Review: Salling Clicker

Friday 27 January 2006 13:43 | user icon Duncan Sample

A remote control application which has been around on MacOSX for quite a while, and now available for Windows too. Control iTunes/Media Player, Powerpoint and any other application you an think of from your mobile phone.

Salling Clicker is an amazing piece of software. Control your computer from your phone, it runs on both Mac and Windows, and works amazingly, even with Nokia PC Suite connected to the phone at the same time.

You can create extensions to the software using simple javascript files on Windows, and AppleScript on MacOSX.

It's only £16 to buy, so it's not exactly going to break the bank, however if you want both the Windows and the Mac version you'll have to pay twice.

On weekdays I'm a Solution Architect at Nokia Siemens Networks, creating creative software solutions for mobile operators around the world.

In my spare time I'm an avid new technology fan, and constantly strive to find innovative uses for the new gadgets I manage to get my hands on. Most recently I've been investigating Mobile Codes, RFID and Home automation (mainly Z-Wave). With a keen eye for usability I'm attempting to create some cost-effective, DIY technology solutions which would rival even high-end retail products. The software I develop is usually released as Open Source.

I have a Finnish geek partner, so have begun the difficult task of learning Finnish.
