Expensive charger

I've just taken delivery of a USB charger for my new Nokia GPS... £18!

On Saturday I opened my door to find my new GPS (a Nokia LD-3W). I opened it immediately to give it a try with the GPS tracking software I'd just bought (more news on that soon) only to find out that they expect you to only use it when you're in a car, so they only include a car charger, and to top it off, it's the new small size charger socket.

Nevermind, I thought, I'd seen a USB charger (Nokia CA-100) mentioned somewhere, so I'll just buy one of those. £18 including shipping... I paid for it, since I needed it.

That was yesterday, this morning I got a knock on the door asking me to sign for a parcel... I say a parcel, but it was more of a huge (but flat) Jiffy bag. When I opened it I found out that the marketing photo (that I presumed was more a concept photo) was a to-scale photo... it's about 20cm long! Although I like compact things, when it's such a simple thing I like the price to be compact too... this one works out as £90 a metre!

ok, there's a little bit of overhead in the price that wouldn't scale up with the price, but the charger end plus the USB part can't cost more than £2 to make, as an extremely high estimate, so that only brings the estimated price to be £82 a metre!

I'm just a little miffed since with this charger I wouldn't even be able to take a phonecall with that little amount of cable. It is however a good size for charging the GPS unit, so at least that's a little consolation I guess.
